Independence Hall National Park Facade Stonework Restoration

The Tradesmen Group LLC (TTG) was selected by the National Park Service to undertake the rehabilitation and preservation of the stonework on the north façade of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA.

This project involved the restoration of one of America’s most iconic and historically significant buildings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Masonry Restoration

  • Repointing of failed and deficient mortar joints in:
    • Brick masonry
    • Stone masonry
  • Stone fracture repairs
  • Stone patch repairs
  • Cleaning of soiled masonry, including specialized poultice treatments
  • Limited stone replacement with matching materials

Specialized Repairs

  • Installation of new lead sheet flashing on window keystones
  • Replacement of iron stone cramps in the north entrance stone steps with new molten lead
