This project involved extensive work on the building’s limestone, granite, and brick façade, including all plaza, roof, and courtyard areas. In addition, TTG restored the ironwork.
Masonry Restoration
- Removal of mortar joints and tuckpointing of limestone, granite, and brick using historic mortar formulated to match the original
- Stone removal, salvage, and re-installation in various locations
- Extensive stone Dutchman repairs
- Crack repairs and fracture injection repairs
- Stone patch repairs throughout the structure
- Substantial brick removal/salvage and reconstruction to facilitate steel lintel and structural steel repairs in the courtyard
- Installation of new stainless steel through-wall flashings beneath large coping stones on the NE & NW corners of the building
- Caulking and other masonry repairs
Ironwork Rehabilitation
- Repairs and rehabilitation of ornamental iron window grates and large vehicular iron gates on east and west elevations
- Micro-abrasion blasting and painting of ironwork
